Assistant Manager Paige Shorten is set to depart Ipswich Town Football Club later this month after securing a role within the FA.
Paige joined the club in October 2018 after previously holding roles with the Suffolk FA. She was initially appointed as assistant to Joe Sheehan within Town's academy setup before stepping up to first-team duties in February 2019.

Shorten has since become a key figurehead of the women's programme and played a significant part in Town's recent success, both in the league and during the historic FA Cup run.

In addition to her high-standard of coaching, Paige also had a number of responsibilities behind the scenes including secretarial duties and latterly becoming centre manager of the Ipswich Town Girls Advanced Coaching Centre.

During her time with the Tractor Girls, Paige also made one appearance as a player, scoring on her debut as Town ran out 14-0 winners against Brantham Athletic in the Suffolk FA Women's Cup.

Paige departs Town after recently completing her UEFA A licence course and takes up the role of FA Women's Talent Technical Coach for the Midlands & East Region.

On the impending departure of his assistant, Town boss Sheehan said; "

“Paige’s impact on the growth of female football at Ipswich Town over the past 2 years has been phenomenal."

"The progress we have made both on and off the pitch has been largely down to Paige’s hard work, drive and enthusiasm."

"I cannot thank her enough for what she’s done and I wish her nothing but the best in her new role with the FA. Her replacement will have huge boots to fill.”

Everyone at Ipswich Town would like to thank Paige for her service and endless hard work in helping to develop the women's programme at the club. We will miss her greatly and wish her nothing but the best in her future endeavours.
