Website for Rochester United FC: https://www.rochesterunited.co.uk/ (note this has very little information on it)
Twitter: @gillswomenfc
Facebook: @GillinghamWFC

SPECIFIC INFORMATION FOR TOWN FANS:

Ticket News:

Entry to the game is £5 for adults, £2 for U18s with U11s free.  Note it is cash only.

TRAVELLING TO ROCHESTER UNITED SPORTS GROUND:

Car

Note:  The suggested route involves the Dartford Crossing.  You must pay the Dartford Crossing charge by midnight the day after you cross. You will get a fine if you’re late or do not pay.  Details can be found here:  https://www.gov.uk/pay-dartford-crossing-charge
The postcode for Rochester United FC is ME2 3TU.

Google Maps indicates a journey time of around 1 hour 15 minutes to 1 hour 50 minutes.  However, given that this is an evening game it could take much longer.  We would recommend that you allow at least an hour beyond the AA / Google / Sat Nav suggested journey time. From Ipswich, take the A12 to the M25.  Join the M25 signposted M20 / M23 / Dartford Crossing.  Continue on the A282 (which is really the M25 still) and exit onto the A2.  Follow the A2 towards Canterbury and take the A2 exit (signposted Rochester / Stood) at junction 1 (this is also where the A2 joins the M2). Follow the A2 and you will see the ground on the left-hand side.

Parking

If you are unable to park at the ground itself, there are a number of nearby residential streets – but do check for any restrictions.

Train
Note 1:  It is possible to get back to Ipswich after the game, but you’ll need to leave very promptly to make sure you make the train out of Strood.

Note 2:  All train times are subject to late change and cancellation due to Covid self-isolation requirements for railway staff.  Please check all times shortly before travel.

The ground is served by Strood rail station which is about 1.6 miles from the ground.  From Ipswich take a train to Stratford (do check whether you need to change at Colchester, as not all London-bound trains stop at Stratford).  At Stratford walk to Stratford International where you pick up a train to Strood.  Journey times are around 2 hours 5 minutes to 2 hours 20 minutes.  www.greateranglia.co.uk shows regular train times for this route – we haven’t included them here as they are very dependent on what time you want to arrive in Strood.

A second option, which is slightly longer, is to go from Ipswich to London Liverpool Street.  Either walk or take the underground to Cannon Street where you pick up a train to Rochester.  Timewise, there are less options going this route due to connection times.
After the game there is a train from Rochester at 22:32 – given it is at least half an hour’s walk, do make sure you leave enough time! This goes to Stratford International.  Walk to Stratford station and pick up the 23:38 to Ipswich.  This arrives in Ipswich at 00:39.

GETTING TO THE GROUND FROM STROOD STATION:

Strood station is roughly a 1.6 mile walk from the ground.  From Strood station take Canal Road to the A2.  Follow the A2 to the ground.
If you don’t fancy the walk from the station you can take the 700 Sapphire bus from Canal Road Stop E towards Bluewater.  Alight at the Standgate Road stop and walk to the ground (around 5 minutes).  After the game buses leave Standgate Road (towards Chatham) back to Canal Road Stop D which is a short walk to the station.  There is a timetabled bus after the game, but, if you have to make the 22:32 train, you’d be stuck if the bus doesn’t turn up!

PUBS AND FOOD:

We have done our best to ensure that the listed pubs will be open and operating without major Covid restrictions.  Please understand that some might limit numbers or insist on small groups and table service.

The Three Crutches Pub (Old Watling Street, Strood, Rochester, ME2 3UG) serving food and drink is a short distance from the ground.
If you are travelling by train into Strood then the 10:50 from Victoria (Rear of 37-39 North St, Rochester ME2 4SJ) is a short walk from the station and looks to be well worth a detour from the walking route to the ground.  It is Strood’s first Micropub with outdoor seating for over 100 people and serves locally brewed cask ales and a selection of local ciders.  Note this pub is over 18s only. We understand that opening times are 15:30 to 21:00.
If you walk from Strood station directly to the ground you will pass Starbucks, Papa John’s and the Coach and Horses pub.

AT THE GROUND:

As you expect the ground has rail barriers around the ground.  There is a 200 seater stand and a covered terrace.

Programmes and refreshment facilities TBC.
