TRAVELLING TO WESTON PARK
Car
Note: Joining the A428 west of Cambridge is a bit different now the new stretch of A14 has been completed. If your SatNav has not been updated for the last year or so, then be careful, or you could end up on the wrong road! The route is well signposted, but is different from the previous arrangement.
The Sat Nav postcode for Weston Park is MK43 9JT.
Weston Park is a fairly direct drive from Ipswich and is very close to the A421. Follow the A14, A428, A1 (briefly) and join the A421 at the Black Cat roundabout. After about 10.5 miles, leave the A421 - use the left 2 lanes to take the slip road to Northampton / A428 / A6 / Bromham / Kempston. At the next roundabout, take the 2nd exit onto the Woburn Road. Continue on the Woburn Road and at the next roundabout, take the 1st exit onto Fields Road.
At the next roundabout, take the 1st exit staying on Fields Road. Go straight across the next roundabout and then turn right into Bedford Road. Continue along Bedford Road and Western Park will be on your right-hand side (from Google maps it looks as if you turn right at the Londis).
Google maps suggests a journey time of one-and-a-half hours to two hours depending on traffic conditions. We generally recommend allowing at least an hour beyond the AA / Google / Sat Nav suggested journey time.
Parking
There is parking available at Weston Park.
Public Transport
It is possible to get to the game by public transport but it will take you nearly 5 hours so it isn’t recommended. We therefore haven’t included the details here.
PUBS & FOOD
There is a social club at the ground itself, which we assume will be open. A photo that we found indicates that it serves beer from the erstwhile Charles Wells brewery, now Marstons.
Pubs near to the ground include The Cock Inn which is close to where you turn right into Bedford Road. This opens at 12 noon on a Sunday. It doesn’t appear to offer food but their website states that it is fine to take food in. Further along is the Fox and Duck which is a community pub. This also opens at 12 noon on a Sunday. The Fox and Duck coffee shop offers food but we are not sure of its opening hours on a Sunday.
Google maps shows a Londis on the corner as you turn right into the ground which opens on a Sunday. On the lane to the ground there is Pat’s Pizzas and Foodie Woodays café.
AT THE GROUND
Payment is on the day at the ground.
There is standing around the perimeter of the ground with a covered area backing onto the social club.
Programmes
MK Dons Women produce an electronic programme ‘Matchday supplement’. This can be read, downloaded and saved as a pdf from the MK Dons website: www.mkdons.com.
Facilities
As mentioned above there is a social club at the ground.
