TRAVELLING TO KINGSTON PARK STADIUM

Car

Kingston Park Stadium is just a few minutes from the A1.

From Sheffield

We are aware that a number of Town fans are travelling to Newcastle after the men’s game at Sheffield Wednesday. From Sheffield take the A61 to the M1.  Join the M1 signposted Leeds / Barnsley.  Stay on the M1 to the junction with the A1(M) where you join the A1(M) towards The North.
*At junction 77, use the left lane to take the A696/A167 slip road to Airport Jedburg / City Centre.  At Kenton Bar Interchange, take the 2nd exit onto Ponteland Rd/B6918. At the roundabout, take the 1st exit and stay on Ponteland Rd/B6918.  Turn right onto Brunton Rd.  Newcastle Falcons will be on your left.

Note that Kingston Park Stadium is to the north of Newcastle so if you are staying in central Newcastle on the Saturday night, directions from the A1 will differ to those above. The journey time is around 2 hours 10 minutes to 2 hours 50 minutes.

From Ipswich

For those of you travelling from Ipswich to Newcastle the route is the A14 / A1 / A1(M).  From the A1(M) follow the instructions from * above.
www.googlemaps.co.uk indicates a time of 4 hours 30 minutes to 5 hours 40 minutes depending on traffic conditions.  We generally recommend allowing at least an hour beyond the AA / Google / Sat Nav suggested journey time.

Train

Note 1: All train services are subject to change or cancellation, as staff shortages due to Covid-19 isolation requirements can impact at very short notice.  Please check your planned journey shortly before you travel, and be prepared to be flexible over timings.

Note 2: Engineering works are taking place on the Ipswich to London line with buses replacing trains between Ipswich and Colchester.
Kingston Park is five miles from Newcastle station and a 5-minute walk from Kingston Park and Bank Foot Metro stations.
From Sheffield

There are trains from Sheffield to Newcastle after the game on Saturday.  www.greateranglia.co.uk is indicating trains at 17:21 (change at Leeds and Thornaby), 18:21 (change at York) and 19:21 (change at York and Thornaby) arriving into Newcastle at 20:51, 21:51 and 22:50 respectively.  Note that it is also possible to travel on the 19:21 to York and change to a rail replacement bus service to Newcastle which arrives in Newcastle at 23:05.  All trains from Sheffield after 19:21 involve a bus from York to Newcastle.

After the game on Sunday there is a cross-country option back to Ipswich which leaves Newcastle at 17:59.  With changes at Peterborough and Cambridge this arrives back into Ipswich at 00:07.  There is also an option via London, leaving Newcastle at 17:02.  This connects to the 22:02 from Liverpool Street to Colchester where you pick up a rail replacement bus to Ipswich, arriving into Ipswich at 23:58.

Getting to Kingston Park from Newcastle station or Newcastle City Centre

Kingston Park is a 5-minute walk from Kingston Park and Bank Foot Metro stations.  Both Metro stations are on the ‘green line’ which runs between Newcastle Airport and South Hylton.   The line runs through Newcastle Central which is accessed through Newcastle mainline station.
The journey time from Newcastle Central to Kingston Park is around 17 minutes and to Bank Foot is around 19 minutes.

PUBS & FOOD

There are a number of pubs and food outlets near to the stadium.

These include the Toby Carvery Kenton Bank and the Twin Farms pub in Kenton Bank Foot (NE13 8AB) which opens at 11:30 on a Sunday with food served from 12noon.  There is also a McDonalds, Kingston Pizza’s, Subway and Starbucks, whilst Kingston Court Retail Park has a Gregg’s.

AT THE GROUND

Parking

The car park has space for 300 cars.

Food and Drink

The Newcastle Falcons website indicates that a wide range of food, drinks and snacks are available.

We don’t know exactly what will be on offer for this game. However, we are assuming that The Tap & Tackle will be open. This is the Newcastle Falcons' on-site ‘club-house’ bar and coffee shop offering a range of beverages, light bites and a brilliant view of the main pitch.
