TRAVELLING TO COURT PLACE FARM
Car
The Sat Nav postcode for Court Place Farm is OX3 0NQ. The ground is on the north side of Oxford, handily placed for drivers as it is just off the main A40.
From Ipswich the likely route is the A12 / M25 anticlockwise (towards M11/M1/Stansted Airport/Watford) / M40. At Junction 8 of the M40 take the A40 signposted Oxford / Cheltenham. From the A40 take the exit towards Marston / Elsfield. Turn left onto Marsh Lane / B4150. Court Place Farm will be on your right. www.googlemaps.co.uk suggests it will take around 3 hours, and this has been our experience in recent years too. We generally recommend allowing at least an hour beyond the AA / Google / Sat Nav suggested journey time.
Minibus travel
The Ipswich Town FC Women Supporters Group have organised a minibus for this game. If you are booked on this, please note that the minibus is leaving Portman Road at 09:45. Please be at Planet Blue at least 15 minutes before this. There is also a pick-up in Axial Way, Colchester at around 10:05 - 10:10.
If you have a space booked on the minibus the cost is £20 including match ticket, payable by cash on the day.
Parking
The Oxford City website gives the following information re parking:
‘There are two car parks on site that can be used by all supporters visiting Marsh Lane.
The Main Car Park is located outside the Community Arena and the external 3G pitch. To reach this car park, turn left immediately when you turn into the site and follow the road until you reach the car park. If this car park is full, you can park in the car park that is located at the entrance to the site. Once you turn off the main road into the site, you will be able to see this directly in front of you.’
Public Transport
The railway station is in the city centre, around four miles from the ground. On leaving the railway station proceed to bus stop 4 and get on the 14A. This bus will drop you at Horseman Close, 2 minutes’ walk from the stadium. From London, trains to Oxford leave from London Paddington and London Marylebone. To get to London Paddington or London Marylebone from Liverpool Street take the Central Line to Oxford Circus and change to the Bakerloo Line to either Paddington or Marylebone. The journey time from Ipswich to Oxford takes around 3 hours 15 minutes to 3 hours 30 minutes.
After the game there are direct trains back from Oxford to London Paddington at 30 minutes and 55 minutes past the hour. These connect with trains to Ipswich from Liverpool Street 2 hours after leaving Oxford (on the 30 minutes and around the hour). Trains from Oxford to Marylebone leave Oxford at 16:11. 16:41 and 17:41 and take a bit longer, about 1 hour 30 minutes.
Whatever your travel plans, you should check www.greateranglia.co.uk or your usual train operator website for updated times and travel disruptions.
Given that most Town fans, if not all, will be travelling by car we haven’t included full details for train travel. If you are travelling by train and need any help or information please get in touch.
PUBS & FOOD
The only pub near to the ground is the rather impressive-looking Red Lion, 42 Oxford Road, Oxford OX3 0PH, a half-mile, ten-minute walk to / from the ground. No, that isn’t a typo – it actually is Oxford Road, Oxford. It is a large Greene King-run pub with four beers on handpump and a food focus (the fish & chips is well spoken of, featuring an Abbot Ale beer batter).
AT THE GROUND
The purpose-built stadium has a capacity of 3,000 across two seated stands and two safe standing areas. We assume the match will be played on the main pitch, but note that there is an external 3G pitch too.
The Oxford City website states that ‘there is a clubhouse which has a fully stocked bar, three TV screens with Sky Sports and BT Sport. The modern kitchen serves a range of hot and cold food before, during and after games.’ We don’t know what will be open on Sunday but would assume that food and drink will be available.
