Issy Bryant will leave the Club later this summer after accepting a scholarship opportunity with the University of North Carolina Wilmington in the United States.
The 18-year-old forward, who joined Town from Cambridge City in the summer of 2020 after also progressing through the Cambridgeshire ACC, has agreed a four-year scholarship with the Seahawks, who play in the Colonial Athletic Association as part of the NCAA's Division One structure.
Shortly after arriving at the Club, Issy found herself involved with the first-team and was part of Joe Sheehan's side throughout the pre-season calendar. She made her debut aged 16 on the opening day of the 2020/21 season, coming off the bench as a second-half substitute against Hashtag United. Issy soon established herself within the Blues' WSL Academy setup before having to wait until January 2022 for her next opportunity in the senior side.
The England youth international came off the bench against Hounslow at the beginning of the calendar year and soon began to see more involvement in the Tractor Girls' first-team. Further substitute appearances against Cardiff City and Plymouth Argyle would follow but perhaps her biggest moment in an Ipswich Town shirt came in February against Southampton in the fifth-round of the Vitality Women's FA Cup, stepping off the bench specifically to take a penalty in a shootout. Issy dispatched her spot-kick in fine style and played a key role in the Tractor Girls going on to reach the quarter-finals of the competition for the first time in club history.
Internationally, Issy has remained involved with the England youth setup throughout her time at the club, and recently featured for the England development side in the Algarve Cup in Portugal.
Issy, who will study Marketing during her time in North Carolina, departs Ipswich Town having made 5 senior appearances.
On her impending departure, Issy said: "I can’t thank the club enough for what they have done for me and for providing me with all the support I've needed over the past couple of years. I will miss the girls and the coaches massively - they’ve really made me feel like family."
She added: "Moving to America is going to be life changing for me with new experiences and a fresh start, and I’m really looking forward to it. I will be staying in touch with coaches and players, and I hope to see them when I come back in summer and at Christmas time."
"I would like to say good luck to the club in their aim of gaining promotion - I’m rooting for them, and have every belief it will happen."
Everyone at Ipswich Town wishes Issy the very best in the next chapter of her career.
