Town extended their winning run in the Women's National League to eight games with a comfortable 5-0 victory over Cambridge United at the Goldstar Ground, Felixstowe, on Sunday.
Natasha Thomas' red-hot form in front of goal continued after netting another brace, with Amanda Crump, Anna Grey and the sensational Sophie Peskett all completing the scoring on yet another impressive afternoon for the Blues.

Town unsurprisingly started the brighter and it wasn't long before they found themselves in front. Peskett beat her full-back before delivering a delightful ball into the six-yard box for the arriving Thomas to bullet her header past Liz Pamplin in the Cambridge net. The Blues continued to assert their authority and doubled their advantage in the final minutes of the half through the continually impressive Grey. Nicole Pannifer played the ball into the path of Thomas, who held and teed the ball up for Grey to slot home from just inside the area.

On the stroke of half-time, a moment of controversy struck as Cambridge were awarded what looked to be a soft penalty for an alleged push from Thomas on Vicky Lines. Despite strong calls of simulation from the Town bench, United skipper, Kelley Blanchflower, stepped up but was denied by a low save from debutant Town stopper, Lucy Williamson. The recent arrival from Brighton & Hove Albion, who had been largely untested on her Town debut, stepped up when called upon and preserved the Blues' clean sheet going into the break.

Town picked up where they left off in the second-half and it wasn't long before they found a third goal through their influential captain. After some excellent build-up play, Peskett once again delivered into the six-yard box and Crump was on hand to turn the ball past Pamplin with a first-time effort. Just three minutes later, the Tractor Girls netted a fourth as Peskett turned provider for the third time in the game. The Town winger delivered another quality ball into the area for Thomas, who turned and stabbed home from close-range.

Minutes later, Peskett rounded off an incredible performance by getting herself on the scoresheet. Thomas nodded down a hacked clearance from Jemma Moore into the path of Peskett, who fired the resulting ball into the far corner. Town would continue to dominate the game but failed to add to their tally before the final whistle.

The result sees Town move four points clear at the top of the Women's National League Division One South East table with two games remaining in 2019.

The Tractor Girls return to action this Sunday at home to AFC Basildon at the Goldstar Ground, Felixstowe, Kick-off 2pm.
