Town began their sixth successive defence of their Suffolk FA Women's Cup crown with a commanding 11-2 victory over AFC Sudbury at the Goldstar Ground, Felixstowe, on Sunday.
Captain Amanda Crump hit a hat-trick, Amy-Leigh Abrehart, Zoe Barratt and Paige Wakefield all hit braces, with Lindsey Cooper and Sophie Welton completing the scoring for the potent Blues.

Town got off to a less than ideal start as they found themselves surprisingly behind after just two minutes. Amy Thompson's wide-left cross wasn't dealt with by the Blues, allowing former Town development team forward Olivia Gunn to poke into an open net following a goalmouth scramble.

However, the Tractor Girls responded almost instantly as Welton latched on to Abrehart's long ball and calmly dinked the ball past the stranded Sydney Batt. Town would soon go in front through Wakefield, who celebrated her birthday by heading past Batt from Crump's corner.

The Ipswich skipper then got herself on the scoresheet as she met Cooper's ball over-the-top and knocked it past Batt before slotting into an open net.

To Sudbury's credit, they kept on battling and were soon rewarded for their endeavour as they found a second goal following a lapse in concentration from Town 'keeper Danni Clarke. After attempting to play out from the back, Clarke's pass went straight to Rebecca Stephenson, who didn't hesitate to lift the ball over the head of the Town stopper and bring her side back into the game.

Abrehart soon restored Town's two-goal cushion as she powered home a thunderbolt off the crossbar following excellent hold up play from Barratt. Abrehart then turned provider for her fellow teenage teammate as her intricate through-ball found Barratt in the area and the 16-year-old cooly found the the bottom corner for her first senior goal.

Barratt then netted her second of the afternoon as she fired into the far corner following an excellent solo run. Town would have a seventh before the break as Abrehart's deep free-kick found the back of the net following a deflection off an unfortunate Sudbury defender.

Town extended the scoring in the second-half and soon had an eighth as Cooper towered high to head home Crump's corner. Crump herself then bagged her second of the afternoon as she found the back of the net with a perfectly-weighted lob over the head of Batt.

Goal number ten arrived in the final few minutes as Wakefield placed the ball through Batt's legs with her first touch since coming back on as a rolling substitute.

Finally, the rout was complete as the Town skipper Crump confirmed her hat-trick as she turned Barratt's cut-back home through the fingertips of Batt.

The result sees Town comfortably into the hat for the second-round as they look to once again retain the cup.

The Tractor Girls return to league action this Sunday away to Stevenage.

Town: Clarke (GK), Dunn, Cooper, Stretch, Billson, Wakefield, Flatt, Crump (c), Welton, Abrehart, Barratt.

Substitutes (Both used and rolling): Cossey, Pannifer
