MINI RECAP: WIMBLEDON 0-2 TOWN

Town kicked off their pre-season campaign with a 2-0 victory over AFC Wimbledon at Plough Lane on Saturday evening.
Following on from the men's 3-0 victory over the Dons earlier in the afternoon, Joe Sheehan's side took to the pitch for the first time this summer in front of a large away following.

Town took the lead in the eleventh minute as Zoe Barratt swept home Anna Grey's low cross at the front-post following great play from Lucy O'Brien. The hosts soon began to create chances of their own, as Sarah Quantrill was called into action to deny Emma Plewa with a superb tip over the bar. Kyra Robertson went close for Town on the stroke of the half but saw her close-range effort well saved by Faye Baker. As the scorching hot first-half entered added-time, Quantrill was tested once again, but pulled off a remarkable double-save to keep the Blues ahead - earning her a loud applause from the Town faithful behind the goal.

There were worrying scenes after the break as Wimbledon's Gloria Siber had to be stretchered off following a heavy collision from a Town corner. After a near fifteen minute delay, the game restarted and Town were instantly back on the front foot. Substitute Maddie Biggs rounded off a solid afternoon for Ipswich Town in added-time as she regained the ball high up the pitch following a loose pass, and duly obliged by slotting past the onrushing goalkeeper.

The Tractor Girls return to action next Sunday at home to Cambridge United in their first home friendly at the new renamed AGL Arena in Felixstowe.

Town: Quantrill, Hughes, Boswell, Horwood (c), Lafayette, Grey, Robertson, King, O'Brien, Barratt, Thomas
