Town play Chichester and Selsey Ladies in the Southern Premier Division on Sunday 5 September 2021.  The following guide has been produced for Town fans making the trip. Chichester & Selsey have had a mixed start to the season, with just one win (1-0 v Oxford), a draw v London Bees, a creditable 2-0 defeat to high-flying Southampton, and a 4-0 defeat to 3rd placed Bridgewater.

For any further information, please contact Elizabeth Edwards, Supporter Liaison Officer at slo@itfc.co.uk or (+44) (0)7968 876504 or on Twitter at @ITFC_SLO.

SPECIFIC INFORMATION FOR TOWN FANS:

Ticket news:

Entry to the game is £5 for adults and £2 for concessions and U16s.  Payment is by cash or card at the gate.

TRAVELLING TO THE HIGH STREET GROUND:

Car:

Note:
The suggested route involves the Dartford Crossing.  You must pay the Dartford Crossing charge by midnight the day after you cross. You will get a fine if you’re late or do not pay.  Details can be found here:  https://www.gov.uk/pay-dartford-crossing-charge

The postcode for Selsey FC is PO20 0QG. Google Maps indicates a journey time to the south coast of around 3-and-a-half hours under relatively normal traffic conditions.  We would recommend that you allow at least an hour beyond the AA / Google / Sat Nav suggested journey time.  We also warn that the return trip may well take longer, as there will be plenty of end-of-school-holidays and end-of-weekend trippers returning home.

From Ipswich, take the A12 to the M25.  Join the M25 signposted M20 / M23 / Dartford Crossing.  Exit the M25 at junction 7 on to the M23 towards Brighton / Crawley / Gatwick Airport.  Follow the M23 and then the A23.  From the A23 join the A272 (Cowfold Road).  At the junction with the A24, take the left turn onto the A24 (Worthing Road) – there is a McDonalds at this junction.  At the Washington Roundabout, take the 3rd exit onto the A283 (Storrington Road).  Join the B2139 (Amberley Road) and then the A29 and the A27. From the A27 join the B2145.  Continue on the B2145 into Selsey until you reach a set of traffic lights. Turn right at the lights and into the Co-op supermarket car park. The ground is found at the top left of the car park.

An alternative route, but slightly longer, is to stay on the M25 and take the A3 / A3(M) to the A27.  Join the A27 (a different part of the A27 to the above route) and pick up the B2201.  This joins the B2145 where you follow the instructions above.

Parking:

There is some parking at the ground.  If you are unable to park at the ground itself, there are a number of nearby residential streets – but do check for any restrictions.

Train:

Note 1:  All train times are subject to late change and cancellation due to Covid self-isolation requirements for railway staff.  Please check all times shortly before travel.
Note 2:  Engineering works on the day of the match means that from Ipswich you go to Marks Tey and pick up a rail replacement bus to Newbury Park where you pick up the underground.

Travelling by train for this game is a bit of a challenge and probably not recommended.  Note that prices vary dramatically with many options extremely expensive. www.greateranglia.co.uk shows just one option to get you from Ipswich to Selsey in time for the game and this will be extremely tight.   The 07:43 from Ipswich goes to Marks Tey where you get a bus to Newbury Park.  From Newbury Park you take the underground to London Bridge where you connect to a train to Brighton where you change for a train to Chichester.

The scheduled arrival time into Chichester is 12:58.  Chichester is about 8 miles from the ground so you will then need to take a 51 bus to Selsey – the bus journey time is 38 minutes plus a few minutes walk to the ground.  If you are starting out from London, the better option is probably to travel directly to Chichester from Victoria.  For example, the 10:16 departure arrives in Chichester at 12:21, with a bus connection to Selsey that is due to arrive shortly after 1pm.

The return journey to Ipswich is just as challenging and long with a number of options following the same route as above in reverse or travelling via East Croydon and London Bridge or Chichester to Victoria.

PUBS AND FOOD:

We have done our best to ensure that the listed pubs will be open and operating without major Covid restrictions.  Please understand that some might limit numbers or insist on small groups and table service.  The nearest pubs are just a few minutes’ walk from the ground: The Crown Inn, 107 High Street, Selsey PO20 0QL; the Neptune Inn, 120 High Street, PO20 0QE; The Crab Pot, 153 High Street, PO20 0QB.  Of the three, The Crown seems to offer the widest choice of food, but the Crab Pot is a micro-pub with a really interesting selection of cask and craft beers.

AT THE GROUND:

Entry to the ground is through a turnstile next to a set of impressive iron gates donated to the club by Pontins Holiday Camp after it closed down over 35 years ago.  The ground has hard standing all around. There is a covered stand opposite the club house.

Programmes:

Programmes are produced for Chichester and Selsey Ladies matches.  We do not know the price.

Food & Drink facilities:

There is a club house at the ground.  There is also a tea bar open on matchdays.
