Blue Wilson has been named as new captain of Ipswich Town.
The 19-year-old midfielder, who was announced as the Tractor Girls eighth professional player earlier today, will take the armband having been elected by her teammates and staff.
Blue succeeds Amanda Crump as club captain, with the legendary Ipswich Town midfielder having retired this summer following 21 years at the club. Crump had been captain for the past seven years but missed 14 months of action following the birth of her second child. Eva Hubbard led the Tractor Girls during the 2020/21 season on an interim basis following Crump's absence and made a strong impression whilst in possession of the armband.
However, with a permanent captain needing to be appointed in the aftermath of Crump's retirement, Wilson was the chosen one to lead the Tractor Girls into the future.
"It is a real honour to be named captain of this team in what could be such a special season," Blue told the club website.
"With the support of others around me, I hope to lead this team to achieve our maximum potential."
" We are ready."
